A true vintage find, this Hupmobile tow truck has a Chrysler straight 8 engine as well as a 3-speed transmission.

 

It belonged to the local Hupp dealer in Rockville, CT, and was in service until the late ’40’s. It was stored in the dealership’s garage until 1969, and was restored in the late ’70’s.

 

The truck won Best of Show at the Hoosier Truck meet in ’78.  Matchbox toys even created a die-cast of the truck, complete with Barlow Motor Sales on the door, and the ph.no. on the bed.  The truck was featured in many newspaper articles and appeared in calendars.

 

The truck has remained local it’s whole life.
